Adjunct Assistant Professor of Graduate Elementary Music Education
About the American Collete of Music (ACM)
The American College of Music (ACM) was founded by music educators in 2019 and began operations in July 2021. Its primary purpose is to offer a 100% Online graduate education that is accessible, affordable, and academically valued using student-centered, hands-on instruction. Through teaching and learning, ACM empowers students to develop critical and creative thought to acquire fact-based knowledge, resulting in favorable outcomes and informed solutions. At graduation, each student will be able to live, adapt, and lead in an ever-changing, interconnected world with a desire for life-long learning and independent thought.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Minimum degree: Masters in Music Education or equivalent.
2. At least three years of successful K-12 teaching.
3. Possess a current state teaching credential
4. Must show proof of US Citizenship
Preferred:
1. Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or DMA) required. ABD will be considered; however, the degree must be conferred by the start of the appointment.
2. Effective college/university online teaching.
3. Certification or specialization in elementary/general music pedagogy (Orff, Kodaly, Eurythmics, MLT, etc.)
4. Experience with secondary choral music education, literature, and pedagogy.
5. Record of, or potential for, research and scholarly contributions in the music education field.
Job Concepts
The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in elementary/general music education and other subjects in the candidate's expertise. The successful candidate will teach traditional, contemporary, and emerging music education approaches emphasizing student-centered learning and critical thinking/problem-solving methodologies. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker and pedagogue who designs curricula in response to the evolving needs of contemporary students.
In addition to teaching, the candidate will mentor graduate students, advising and guiding their educational and career choices and outcomes. Conduct other duties according to the candidate's qualifications and the program's needs. The successful candidate will develop meaningful working relationships with students, faculty, and staff at the American College of Music and engage in recruitment activities to forge relationships with potential and incoming students.
Position Responsibilities
All faculty must teach courses as scheduled and aligned with the College's mission, purpose, and goals. As intrinsic to teaching effectiveness, specific teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Prepare the syllabus and any supporting materials associated with teaching the assigned course, and begin each quarter fully prepared for classes.
· Adjust the course content and method of instruction in response to departmental requirements or feedback.
· Record attendance for every class session and ensure that only students on the official roster are in attendance. These report students miss two consecutive class meetings to the administration and submit accurate Attendance/Roster records to the Registrar's Office at the end of the quarter.
· Assign and report grades within the College's established time limits, and keep students informed of their progress.
· Be reasonably available to students outside of class hours regarding academic issues (student advising/mentorship).
· Use ACM e-mail to conduct all College business and regularly monitor the ACM e-mail account.
· Participate in all faculty development and educational assessment activities and initiatives as requested by the College's administration.
· Be proficient in working in an online Learning Management System (LMS)
In addition, faculty members are expected to demonstrate the following;

3. Professionalism and cooperation with colleagues Willingness to evaluate and rethink teaching methods and techniques, accept and try new ideas and suggestions, and adapt to new conditions.
4. Respect for and adherence to the College's policies and procedures.
Salary
Salary depends upon rank, credentials, and experience and is competitive with competitors.
