Position Summary

Our attorneys serve a limited number of clients (25–30) so they can deliver exceptional, 5-star service, while maintaining a healthy work–life balance. Our purpose as attorneys is (1) to maximize the time our clients spend with their kids, and (2) to maximize our clients’ money. Attorneys are 100% responsible for their individual caseload. To help provide clients with exceptional service, attorneys collaborate as a team, sharing information and advice with each other, and they coordinate with their paralegals to ensure clients always know what’s going on and know how to successfully navigate the divorce process. Attorneys ensure that they meet all hours and revenue requirements, that all legal work is done on time and at an exceptionally high level, and they also ensure that their clients feel cared for, heard, and constantly communicated with.

Objectives

At Brown Family Law, successful attorneys do the following:

1. Serve divorce clients exceptionally well through systematic, empathic communication, excellent on-time written legal work, and excellent in-court oral advocacy.

2. Meet billable hours and revenue requirements by billing in real-time for all work completed.

3. Coordinate with the office manager and their team leader to ensure 100% collection for work billed.

4. Be 100% responsible for all aspects of their caseload, from the beginning of their cases through trial.

5. Collaborate and plan key case objectives with their paralegals on a daily basis.

6. Create an effective negotiation strategy to accomplish client’s primary goals, and then execute on that strategy during mediation.

7. Share knowledge freely with their fellow attorney team members, as well as other firm members, so everyone can learn and improve as quickly as possible.

8. Attend Friday team meetings and call every client every Friday.

9. Disconnect from cases and refuse to allow client’s problems to become our problems.

10. Communicate positively, openly, and honestly with their fellow team members and their colleagues. They do not engage in gossip or create drama or conflict in the office or in the broader legal community.

11. Focus on creating intergenerational wealth for themselves and their families by meeting billable hour and revenue goals, and by serving clients and their colleagues exceptionally well.

12. Accept correction without ego and with an honest desire to learn and improve.

13. Run the Brown Family Law system.

Education and Experience

• Active Utah Bar License with no bar disciplinary actions

• At least 3 years experience in the following: (1) in-court litigation, including

proffer hearings, evidentiary hearings, and trials; (2) mediation; (3) family law

Physical Requirements

• Lots of sitting at a desk working on a computer and talking on the phone.

• Travel to and from court and mediations, many times multiple times per

week

• Travel throughout the state of Utah possible, although most travel is limited

to within Salt Lake County, Davis and Weber Counties, and Utah County

Compensation and Benefits

Regular salary and benefits package

• Salary: $85,000–$104,000 (DOE), plus profit sharing

• Law school loan repayment program: $5000 to $10,000

• Personal marketing budget: $2000
