Senior Robotics Engineer (Software Engineer)

JOB DETAIL

Position Summary:

In-depth knowledge and ability to create functional programs for industrial robotic systems; oversee complex systems analysis, design and development programs. Collaborate with a small team of engineers at all stages of software development, including low-level algorithm design, high-level architectures, requirements analysis, testing, and deployment. Maintain smooth running operation through identifying and recommending improvement processes. Responsibilities will include: interfacing to industrial equipment, writing custom software, developing configuration and build scripts, maintaining existing software products, documenting functionality, interacting with customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure Cell Controller HMI
  • Create and configure boot disks with existing project tools
  • Adhere to Lincoln software standards and procedures
  • Download and troubleshoot software for basic ABB or Fanuc robot systems
  • Update build tools that assists in automating robot project software deployment
  • Maintain and update customer project files
  • Bring projects to closure, meeting time and budget requirements
  • Work "hands-on" with industrial robotic systems
  • Work at all levels of the software development process (analysis, architecture & design, development, documentation, integration, test, etc.)
  • Proactively gather requirements directly from users & sales people
  • Form strategies to solve complex, ill-defined problems
  • Write high quality code (well designed, readable, testable, efficient, etc.)
  • Document and maintain various codebases
  • Keep job knowledge current through continual studying of latest development methodologies and technologies
  • Communicate effectively in a small team of software engineering professionals
  • Maintain sufficient personal organization to enable effective multi-tasking and strong attention to detail
  • Identify procedural and process improvements to enhance efficiency and standardization of software products
  • Create build tools that assist in automating robot project software deployment
  • Contribute to driving for standard procedures for software configuration and deployment
  • Provide software training and support for other Lincoln Electric departments
  • Maintain, upgrade and retrofit existing systems
  • Proactively identify problems, system architecture definition, hardware and software specification and design, and recommend implementation, testing, solution deployment, revision control and documentation
  • Identify areas for modification and improvement in existing programs and subsequently develop and document those modifications
  • Assist in the development and testing of new and existing software products

Requirements:

  • 4 - 8 years of experience developing and troubleshooting robotic systems
  • Experience with robot programing including the ability to plan and write programming code utilizing offline simulation tools and teach pendant programming
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret basic electrical and mechanical prints
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic software development fundamentals (object oriented design, test driven development, domain driven development, design patterns/principles, etc.)
  • Self-motivated and capable of balancing speed and accuracy to achieve efficiency
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP technology as it relates to computer networking / connecting devices to an Ethernet topology
  • Ability to develop and document software processes and procedures
  • Strong comprehension of electrical hardware and software systems and devices, including the ability to develop communication interfacing between robots and external devices
  • Ability to create, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot software for highly custom automation systems
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and manage multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to estimate hours and requirements for system concepts and future projects
  • Solid technical writing skills
  • Mentor and develop less experienced team members

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
