Job Description:

BrainXell has an open position for a member of our growth-oriented production team. The cell culture scientist II will perform a variety of cell culture activities and will be responsible for production of differentiated cell types from human induced pluripotent stem cells. The individual will also refine and develop novel protocols to produce cells types not currently offered by BrainXell. Additional duties will include development of new in-house novel assays including, but not limited, STR analysis and other genetic analysis methods. The candidate must have extensive experience in mammalian cell culture as well as in one of the following areas: stem cell biology, neuroscience, or molecular biology. As this position is designed to have minimal structure, the ideal candidate should be self motivated and eager to expand their cell culture expertise.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of iPSC culture activities.
  • Produce differentiated neuronal cell according to the schedule.
  • Compile in process data to identify trends and assist in troubleshooting to resolve any problems.
  • Maintain a high degree of laboratory and quality standards to ensure strong product quality, documentation, and a safe work environment.
  • Assist with laboratory support work such as: routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, raw material stocking, simple SOP or protocol updates, etc.
  • Help the company and department continue to develop by identifying efficiency options, participating in improvement sessions, identifying cost-saving measures, and more.
  • Due to the nature of cell culturing, some weekend and holiday work is required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirements include a PHD, master’s degree plus two years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus five years.
  • Mammalian Cell Culture experience
  • Effective communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a BSC for extended periods and wear appropriate PPE while working.
  • Perform work that includes repetitive motion.
  • Follow safety protocols while performing work in a BSL2 laboratory.

BrainXell is located in the University Research Park on Madison’s west side. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and we offer a great benefits package with excellent health insurance and dental insurance, ample paid time off, a SIMPLE 401(k) plan, and stock options.
