Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• must have CUCM experience

• Provide a very high level of strategic technical leadership for several areas of IT services including process improvement, enterprise architecture planning, and roadmap development
• Mentor other staff in good network practices, network design principles, and learning goals.
• Provide high-level system administration and user support
• Leverage the use of expertise outside of company by effective documentation, communication of common techniques, and maintaining effective relationships with Institute astronomers, software developers, and other staff.
• Participate actively in Institute change management practices (writing change requests, participating in change meetings, mentoring other staff in good change management)
• Lead or participate in technical teams investigating IT technologies.
• Document work in requirements documents, design specifications, reports, proposals, web pages, etc.
• Interface with software and hardware vendors in the development and definition of business and technical processes as well as infrastructure improvements.
• Support proposal generation and other new business efforts. Lead or support teams to generate or review proposals or new initiatives, including assessment of cost, suitability and risk.
• Cisco UC to include CUCM/ Unity
• 10 or more years of systems support/integration/design of LAN/WAN/Secure infrastructures.
• Current knowledge of security practices, principals and real world application.
• Experience with PCI requirements
• Hands-on experience implementing, administrating and troubleshooting network devices: Pola Alto firewalls; Cisco network switches, wireless controllers/AP’s, and routers.
• Strong knowledge of firewall policies, NAT rules, IPSec VPN, IDP & IPS.
• Borderless networks, SSL VPNs, Cisco AnyConnect experience.
• Strong knowledge of IP routing protocols OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, QoS, GRE, WAN technologies and MPLS.
• A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP – based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
• Cisco UC support to include CUCM, Unity and collaboration:

o Video

o Voice

o SRST

o Voice gateway

o Virtual deployment model

Each engineer will process an CCNP certification or equivalent experience, and have the knowledge and skills to:

• Design and support network infrastructure with latest technologies along with Cisco UC
• Test, validate, and troubleshoot the implementation
• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot intermediate to advanced configurations
• Interpret and resolve customer technical issues related to the products and components
