Communications Coordinator

National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) seeks to fill a Full Time Communications Coordinator position based on
Kauai.
The Communications Coordinator will work to expand our audiences, nurture deeper relationships with NTBG, and promote our biocultural conservation mission through communication strategies. This position is an integral member of
NTBG’s Communications Department and maintains systems, workflows, and policies for communication and marketing across the organization. This position manages NTBG’s key digital channels, including ntbg.org, our email marketing platform, primary social media accounts, cross-channel analytics, and digital advertising. Beyond our primary channels, this position supports and coordinates with cross-departmental liaisons to power effective, brand-aligned, and strategic communications across NTBG’s subsidiary channels. The Communications Coordinator stays attuned to trends and implements compelling communication initiatives that move audiences through awareness, consideration, conversion, and loyalty.
Key Skills:
● 1-3 years of experience working in communications or development.
● Bachelor's degree in communications-related field or commensurate experience is preferred.
● Proficiency and experience in social media management
● Literacy in Google analytics. Competency in tracking and applying key performance metrics for data-driven communication strategies.
● Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to craft compelling narratives.
● Experience working with staff and consultants in a collaborative and professional manner.
● Ability to design and implement successful communications campaigns through digital media channels and traditional media.
● Awareness of design trends and best practices, with an eye for quality and brand alignment across communication materials. Graphic design experience is a plus.
● Experience translating legal and scientific information for non-technical audiences and maintaining brand voice across platforms and audiences.
● Proven project management skills, with ability to set and meet multiple internal and external deadlines and follow through to successfully complete projects.
● Proficiency in standard communication platforms and tools. Literacy in Google Suite, Adobe Suite, WordPress and/or Mailchimp is a plus.
