Job Summary:

D.L. Martin Company is a single-owner, two location privately held manufacturing company with a successful 60 year history of serving our customers. We are looking for an experienced financial leader with a proven track record in a similar position. The Controller will be a member of the executive management team, reporting to the CEO and be responsible for all accounting, treasury, and payroll functions. Basic responsibilities include: ensuring adequate internal controls, timely accurate financial reporting, forecasting, planning, costing and continuous improvement in financial and management reporting. This is a “hands-on” position requiring daily interactions with the CEO and other senior leadership team members. This position is responsible for four direct reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial:

  • Generate timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze variances and participate in development of corrective actions to address variances as required.
  • Develop and maintain product line P&Ls.
  • Execute and improve accounting processes and activities: monthly closing, revenue tracking, inventory and WIP analysis, accounts receivable and payable analysis.
  • Create and maintain plant-level and business-wide financial scorecards -
  • Monitor all key financial indicators and ensure that the leadership team is aware of all negative trends and other items of concern.
  • Work closely with CEO and Senior Management team to improve company's financial performance.
  • Review capital expenditure requests, monitor actual capital expenditures and complete post-implementation capital audits to verify forecasted payback and other benefits.
  • Prepare budgets by leading, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, recommending plans.
  • Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Work with outside accounting firm to minimize company tax obligation - Manage all aspects of internal, external and customer Financial audits - Manage the cash-flow position of the company. Responsibility includes updating procedures for pay-terms authority to establish credit and collection and purchasing policies and to establish schedules of payment of bills and financial obligations.
  • Manage banking activities, including day to day operating activities, as well as credit and loan activities and reporting requirements.

Customer Related:

  • Participate in negotiation of terms with suppliers and customers.
  • Lead AR collection activities.
  • Provide accounting support to sales management in the development and review of significant customer pricing programs.

· Other:

  • Prepare material for and participate in quarterly Board Meetings
  • Coordinate all company insurance policies – Medical, Dental, Liability, etc

Qualifications:

Required

  • BS degree in Accounting required
  • Substantial experience in general ledger and financial accounting as well as accounts receivable, credit and collections, accounts payable, customer invoicing and financial reporting.
  • Substantial experience in accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment including product cost accounting, allocation of corporate and plant overhead costs, and physical inventory financial management tasks.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS accounting.
  • Experienced in the use of an ERP system.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Unquestioned business ethics, honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to work at a strategic level and detailed task level.
  • U.S. Citizen

Desirable:

  • MBA Degree in Business or a Financial Discipline
  • CMA or CPA certification
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
