Job Summary

The Design Engineer will prepare technical shop drawings and plans used to build custom millwork projects using computer aided design (CAD) software.

Essential Functions

• Handle complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision
• Work with Project Managers regarding accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation.
• Collaborate with Cabinet Makers to ensure coordination design effort is maintained.
• Generate production programming that complies with company standards.
• Provide visual guidelines and show how to construct a product or structure
• Include technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures in the shop drawings.
• Generate submittal drawings that comply with company standards and adequately communicate our intentions.
• Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of drafting standards, mathematics, science, and engineering technology
• Solid background in CAD techniques
• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent technical design skills

Education and Experience

• Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school highly recommended
• Bachelor’s Degree a plus
• Drafting experience a plus
• Construction or woodworking background helpful
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements

• Regularly requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
