We seek candidates who are interested in helping children with disabilities after school, evenings, and/or weekends. Assisting with activities of daily living, doing community outings, and assisting with homework are some examples of necessary activities.

General:

Direct Support Professionals work 1 to 1 with children and adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities in their home. They provide safe and essential care including routine activities of daily living, safe & engaging community outings, after school care, and more.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in a non-profit organization for those going into the teaching field, special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or medical industry.

Shift Description:

• This position is offering up to a potential of 40 hours per week ranging between Monday and Sunday.
• Shift times: Daytime and/or evening
• Reports to: Program Director

Job Duties:

Assist client with-

• Dressing, meal prep & feeding, cleaning, using the restroom, and fitness.
• Direct Support Professionals help clients reach their individualized goals, help to promote communication skills, and increase socialization opportunities.
• Direct Support Professionals provide supervision and transportation to community activities.
• Direct Support Professionals are responsible for administration of medications.
• Direct Support Professionals are responsible for completing daily charting.

Working Conditions:

• Walk/Stand --Drive up to 2 hours--Bend/Stoop--Balance -Lift, carry, transfer up to 50lbs

Employment Qualifications:

• Experience working with adults with challenging behaviors, with intellectual and/ or physical disabilities and Autism preferred.
• High school diploma

• Must pass a criminal history Background check
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record- Must provide a current copy of your driving record
• Willing to drive personal vehicle to and from clients home and community outings
• Highly reliable

Employment Requirements

• Each employee is required to operate in a manner that promotes a team-oriented atmosphere
• Strong communication skills

• This position must clear a criminal history background check
• Complete CPR and first aid training preferred
