Scarpello Consulting is looking to hire a Director of Environmental Engineering. This role will serve as a lead engineer responsible for the evaluation of single-family and multi-family buildings for energy rating requirements. The role of Director of Environmental Engineering will also work alongside industry professionals and contractors to inform, advise, and evaluate building plans to ensure such properties are meeting energy efficient standards and operations.
Role Responsibilities & Key Activities:
· Energy Modeling – Includes performing preliminary HERS ratings.
· Site Inspections – Scheduling and performing on-site evaluations of properties under construction or renovation across the United States.
· Diagnostic Testing – Conduct performance inspections of blower door testing, duct leakage testing, and ventilation testing.
· Project Management - Ensure projects stay on track to achieve energy efficiency goals and program requirements while maintaining accurate and up-to-date databases.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
· Understand basic building science and demonstrate the ability to work with various green building programs such as Energy Star & ZERH.
· Proficiently review building energy models, write program policies/procedures, & provide technical assistance to ensure contractors meet Energy Star- and/or ZERH-compliance.
· Understand and be able to meet national, state, & city/local building and performance codes
· Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment to ensure projects remain on track and get accomplished by firm deadlines.
Candidates should have, or must be able to achieve, the following certificates, including any future certificates as required by industry standards and/or regulations:
· RESNET HERS Rater
· ENERGY STAR Homes & Multifamily New Construction
· PHIUS Passive House Verifier or Rater
· DOE-recognized Zero Energy Ready Home Verifier under both HCO & MRO
