Distribution Yard Assistant Job Summary

Assist in the development and execution of distribution and inventory management plans for the Distribution Center as well as deliver customer service responsibilities. This role will report to Distribution Center Supervisor and in support/consultation with the Director of Distribution, Sales Directors, Inside Sales, Human Resources, Shipping, and Finance Departments. Achievement of specific goals for safety, fill rates, inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and monthly sales will be key measures of success in this role. This role assists the DC Supervisor in Neenah Foundry’s Municipal Products division within the respective region in order to support customer requirements at our Distribution Center/Yard.

Distribution Yard Assistant Essential Functions

• Assist in the management of finished goods inventory stocks.
• Drive the delivery truck and operate the truck crane. Maintain truck and related equipment via daily inspections. Schedule preventative maintenance or repairs as needed. Operate and maintain forklift, load, and unload trucks as backup/support to Yard Utility Personnel.
• Sales support via email, quotes, phone calls, and walk-in business.
• Working relationship with Distribution, Field Sales, Shipping, Inside Sales, Finance, and Department personnel.
• Daily data entry of customer orders, inventory control, and inventory accuracy.
• Management of inbound and outbound transportation, and customer pickups.
• Adhere to the required credit management policies and procedures.
• Assist the DC Supervisor to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and success of the Distribution Center and company.

Distribution Yard Assistant Expected Areas of Competence (KSAs)

Achieve monthly shipment rates in support of the annual plan

Ensure inventory accuracy of > 98% through execution of a cycle count program.

Demonstrate the ability to work as a team, influencing others through strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrate the ability to be an effective communicator at hourly, executive, and customer levels of communication.

Computer Skills, email, ability to learn AS400 & Salesforce applications.

Basic customer service and distribution center knowledge.

Ability to safely operate company delivery truck and the truck crane.

This position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas. Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned.

Distribution Yard Assistant Education and Experience Requirements

High School diploma is required.

Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Customer Service, or Supply Chain Management is a plus.

2-5 years of experience with customer service or supply chain operations depending upon education.

Strong computer skills/analytics required.

Record of working and/or collaborating in a distribution or customer service position.

Experience working with municipalities and city requirements is a plus.

Clean driving record with the ability to drive the delivery truck and unload with a truck crane at job sites or customer yards. Forklift operating skills required.

Distribution Yard Assistant Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. and safely operate a forklift.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's Human Resources operations.

Distribution Yard AssistantTravel Requirements

Up to 10% for training purposes or backfilling responsibilities only.
