Job Overview:

The Divisional Controller will report directly to the SVP of Finance with a dotted line to the General Manager of kSARIA Service Corporation (kSERV) located in Virginia/California. The successful candidate should be comfortable as a doer with day-to-day accounting and finance operations. The Divisional Controller should be experienced in all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, project cost accounting, government contract invoicing, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Divisional Controller will support multiple government contract programs and will work with program and project management, internal departments, and the accounting team to resolve financial, contractual, and administrative issues and perform project costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation. This position is responsible for maintaining cost accounting systems. This position is also responsible for performing rate calculations. Key partner in cycle counting process.


Responsibilities:

  • Solid understanding of ERP systems and how transactions flow and impact the relevant subsidiary ledgers and general ledger.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close process and assist with the production of financial statements.
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger.
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P.
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and periodically report budget to actual variances to internal clients.
  • Track project costs, including time and materials for multiple customer programs.
  • Generate project profitability analysis and publish monthly for all active projects.
  • Track project accounting KPI's to improve kSERV's operational efficiency and publish monthly.
  • Support the kSERV General Manager with analytics, as requested.
  • Compile time and materials data for invoicing purposes in a format that can be readily used to bill kSERV customers.
  • Collaborate with the AR Accountant and the GM to ensure that all customer billings are completed timely and correctly.
  • Assist with customer and financial audits
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and controls over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Assist with managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies and maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Monthly reporting and analysis including reconciliation of cash, GL to subledger, inventory, etc. as well as variance analysis, and calculation of inventory and AR reserves.
  • Manage inventory including physical to perpetual to general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and audit explanations.
  • Audit cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and reports on root causes and progress toward making improvements for greater quantity and physical accuracy.
  • Perform reporting activities throughout the month on margins, absorption and other metrics to ensure accuracy of gross margins.
  • Work with Senior VP Finance to understand performance standards and other metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or CMA designation, and/or MBA is preferred
  • 7+ years' experience in financial accounting/project cost accounting in a GovCon service company environment required.
  • Proficient with the use of ERP systems (Deltek CostPoint would be a plus) and ability to pull detail data to support account analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, project management and planning skills required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Energetic, passionate, and positive can-do attitude a must.
