Apollo MedFlight, a growing Air Medical provider, is seeking a full-time Flight Paramedic to join our Clinical team. With bases located in Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Nebraska, we are always looking for dedicated clinicians to join our team. POSITION SUMMARY: The Flight Paramedic functions under the supervision of the Senior Director of Clinical Operations and/or Senior Clinical Manager & Clinical Base Lead. The Flight Paramedic assures provision of care to an assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the critical care process and the principles of continuous Quality Improvement in collaboration with other health team members, including other employees of Apollo MedFlight and the staff of the different EMS services and hospitals served. The Flight Paramedic must be ready to perform other responsibilities besides patient care, including but not limited to base specific duties, customer service and performing education duties based on program and community needs. The Flight Paramedic must support an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practice the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

II. House wide Requirements

  • Daily Crew Duties (Peer Reviews, Daily Bag Checks, Narcotic Accountability, Hanger/ House Duties, Patient Follow Ups, Daily Crew Call)
  • Both attendance and instruction of internal continuing education
  • Public Relation Events

III. Provision of Services/Care Standards

  • The Flight Paramedic needs to be familiar and comply with standing medical guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, employees, and other healthcare professionals.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a confined and mobile critical care transport environment.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, airport line staff, and others.
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
  • Ability to respond to phone calls quickly.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make decisions as a critical care team.
  • Ability to repeatedly twist, squat, stoop, bend, grasp, use fine hand coordination, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. independently and more with assistance.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases, agents, and toxic chemicals.
  • Ability to mix & administer medications, with correct knowledge of proper concentrations & dosages

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Aircraft (Including but not limited to: Fixed Wing & Rotor Wing platforms)
  • Lifeport + Sled, Stretcher Systems
  • Monitoring Devices (Including but not limited to: Zoll Monitors, TOCO, Glucometers)
  • IV Regulatory devices (Including but not limited to: Shappire Infusion pumps, Blood Tubing, 10gtt and/or 60gtt sets, and dial a flow IV tubing)
  • Trauma Equipment (Including but not limited to: immobilization devices, hemorrhage control devices, etc)
  • Respiratory support equipment (Including but not limited to: Hamilton T1 ventilators, BVMs, Sea-Long Hoods, Oxygen delivery devices)
  • Medications (Including but not limited to: Narcotics, ACLS medications, RSI medications, and other medications noted throughout the Standing Medical Guidelines & On-Line Medical Control)
  • Telephone/ Push to Talk Radios/ Aircraft Satellite Phone
  • Computer/ Fax Machine/ Printer
  • EMSCharts, Baldwin Safety, Expensify
  • Others not specified that are deemed necessary for safe patient transport.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/ REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an accredited paramedic school or state recognized paramedic program
  • Obtain National Registry Paramedic Certification and be licensed in all states served by assigned base
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Paramedic in high an acuity setting including a busy 911 service
  • Must obtain BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and NRP certification within 3 months of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
  • Advanced trauma course (one of the following) within 6 months of hire
  • ATLS
  • ATLS Audit
  • TPATC
  • ATCN with advanced pathophysiology and skills lab
  • TNCC with advanced pathophysiology and skills lab
  • FP-C or CCP-C is required within 2 years of employment
  • Completion of NIMS 100 and 200, within one year of hire is required

Live in or be willing to relocate to the region (within 2 hours or less of assigned base)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.00 - $54.00 per hour
