Under the supervision of the Director of Food and Beverage, this position is responsible for the entire scope of operations at our private lodge on Colt Island. This day lodge is a tour venue that serves a salmon buffet to guests arriving aboard our whale-watch tour vessels and a seafood buffet to guests arriving via our overnight cruise vessels. This position requires the ability to work independently while facilitating the plan dictated by the Food and Beverage Director.

Duties/Responsibilities

Oversee training, scheduling and supervision of entire staff including kitchen/bar and gift shop crew; leads for site, grounds, and touch tank.

Monitor quality and efficiency of tour operation and review crew performance on weekly basis; report audits to corporate team.

Conduct daily pre-service and post service meetings with crew; maintain morale and execute company programs of progressive discipline and problem resolution.

Advise and monitor boat crews when they arrive with guests and delegate specific duties while on site at lodge.

Order and manage all provisions and inventory for lodge; arrange for daily transport along with lodge crew from Auke Bay facility to Colt Island location by vessel.

Conduct regular inventory of all storage areas both on/off site to ensure adequate supplies of perishable and non-perishable foods; keep areas clean and orderly.

Oversee maintenance of all on site equipment including but not limited to propane refrigerators, stoves, grills etc; along with docks and grounds.

Keep all permits and certificates current.

Work closely with Retail Manager to organize space and merchandise all locally made products in lodge gift shop.

Maintain a constructive relationship with Administrative Coordinator regarding point-of-sale electronic devices, retail sales and daily reconciliations.

Interact professionally with entire shore management team, vessel crew members, and various vendors.

Prioritize, identify, and coordinate projects to be completed during the winter months. Prepare work orders and provide updates/reports to Director of Food and Beverage.

Aid crew to enhance guest experience including performing excellent service recovery when necessary.

Seek and initiate methods to improve Allen Marine’s profitability at this venue.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience

Minimum two years’ management experience in restaurant, tourism or hospitality industry

Maintain current TAPS, Alaska Food Handlers and CPR/FA certifications.

Computer literate with Excel & Microsoft Word.

Ability to work unsupervised while demonstrating leadership skills in a team environment.

Excellent communication skills and a team-player attitude.

Ability to anticipate operational needs and provide timely solutions.

Present a professional and friendly attitude to guests and crew at all times.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Must be drug free (pre-employment screening and testing for cause program is company policy).

Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to work varied and long hours including weekends/holidays; be flexible in meeting tour times and tour demands.

Must be honest, courteous, and reliable and maintain clean, well-groomed appearance.

Pay
DOE. This is an 8 month position with performance bonus, PTO, complimentary passes on our tours for yourself, family and friends, along with other benefits.
