Resources Generalist.

Human Resources Generalist

Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist will manage and/or oversee the daily functions of the
Judge Baker Children’s Center HR department, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, policy enforcement and ad hoc HR projects, as requested.
Working under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, this position is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the HR department. The HR Generalist is an ideal position for someone with outstanding analytical and communication skills. The
HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities. The HR
Generalist will also have strong decision-making skills and a deep understanding of employee relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage enrollment and communication for the 403(b)-retirement plan.
  • Ensure compliance communications are maintained, timely.
  • Manage Benefits administration and education with employees.
  • Processing benefits enrollment, changes, and cancellations.
  • Coordinate and manage Open Enrollment process.
  • Provide reports for open enrollment and plan testing reports.
  • Process monthly billings from insurance providers. Review bills for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies with carriers, and payroll.
  • Manage Corporate MBTA Charlie Card Plan.
  • Manage Leave of Absence process: FMLA, MA PFML, ADA, etc. administration, interactive process, and tracking.
  • Provide guidance and respond to employee’s inquiries regarding Time Off policies. Provide data analytics when needed and in support of reconciling employee inquiries.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliant files for each workers’ compensation claim. o Oversee the completion and/or posting of the annual OSHA reporting. o Assist the vendor with follow up questions and needed information.
  • Ensure remote workers/locations receive compliance information, such as: workers’ comp information for state, and other regulator postings required.
  • Assist HR Director in abiding by State and Federal regulations regarding retirement, benefits administration, and other requirements.
  • Work with HR Director to update the Handbook and keep it current with latest policies and laws.
  • Develop and implement processes for efficiencies regarding Human Resource tasks.
  • Oversee CORI three-year compliance and provide fingerprint and background check information, as needed.
  • Comply with Boston's Living Wage Ordinance.
  • Ensures compliance with government reporting: monthly Dept of Labor Report, and annual EEO-1 report.
  • Process Unemployment Claims, protest relevant claims and process monthly bills.
  • Oversee the recruitment process in collaboration and/or absence of HR Recruiter and HR Assistant.
  • Oversee creation and distribution of offer letters and onboarding materials, in collaboration with the HR Admin.
  • Ensures completion of Background checks: references, CORI, National Criminal File, SAFIS, Credential (licensing) verification are handled in accordance with guidelines.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding ensuring all paperwork is completed.
  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of Personnel files (paper and electronic records).
  • Oversee verification of employee eligibility to work in the US using the E-Verify system.
  • Notify the Administrative Departments of new hires to ensure set up the necessary equipment and other first day needs of the new hire.
  • Recommend engagement strategies to motivate, retain and recognize employees.
  • Serve on committees that would benefit from representation from Human Resources.
  • Assist in the coordination of Human Resource events: Quarterly Staff Meetings, Flu Shots, Wellness Initiatives, Performance Management Process.
  • Special projects as needed and directed: research and compile data to complete requested projects on compensation, employee relations, performance management, benefits, and other requests for employee data.
  • Termination/Off-Boarding responsibilities: Capture trends from exit interview data and partner with Recruiter, Director of Human Resources, and leadership as to problem solve to ensure effective leadership and creating and maintaining an inclusive and diverse work environment.
  • COBRA administration for all departing employees.
  • Ensure all access to JBCC systems are terminated, in collaboration with IT.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in HR.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or the ability and willingness to obtain certification within one (1) year.
  • Experience working in HR with non-profit, clinical and/or academic industries preferred.
  • Understanding of HR best practices, trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ATS, and familiarity with Human Resources Information.
  • Systems and products required. Must be comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality and a high level of customer service in all interactions.
  • Commitment to cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Commitment to working in an integrity driven environment.

This is a Full-time, Salary/Exempt position. Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000 -commensurate with experience. Must be able to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week- combination of Boston and Waltham locations. Occasionally may have to work onsite more days based on needs of business. Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or be eligible for exemption based on law.
