Job Description :

Job Functions-Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant, you will assist in the care of patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Brings patients back to the exam room and obtains a chief complaint, vital signs, medications, allergies and history of present illness.

Accurately documents patient information in the medical record in a timely manner.

Performs EKGs, places and instructs patients on wearing holter monitors. Downloads holter monitor results per protocol.

Administers treatments and medications at the direction of the physician.

Draws blood, conducts lab testing and/or prepares specimens sent to an outside lab.

Tracks tests results and follows-up with the patients.

Schedules diagnostic and hospital procedures.

Triages telephone calls from patient to determine patient need, obtains recommendation from physician and communicates plan to patient in a timely manner.

Triages calls from other providers, labs, pharmacies, insurance companies and completes appropriate follow-up.

Completes request for medication refills at the direction of the physician or following physician approved protocols.

Maintains medical supply inventory and patient education brochures/handouts and orders products as needed.

As a Medical Assistant, some receptionist duties will be required.

Looking for self-starters, able to problem solve and adjust to changing priorities. Position requires approximately 28-32 hrs. per week with Friday afternoons off. Part-time hours approximately 20 -24 hrs. per week

Must have completed a medical assisting program or equivalent experience and at least one-year experience in a healthcare setting preferred. CPR certified and Medication Registry certification required or achieved within 3 months of hire. Fluent in Spanish a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
