Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC is searching for qualified candidates to assume the role of Project Engineer.

Reporting directly to the Performance Improvement Director, this position is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic, fast paced small company. As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating all phases of projects from conception to closeout. This position will use planning, monitoring, and controlling processes while maintaining the highest level of internal customer satisfaction. You will create project schedules by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements. Overall, it will be your job to coordinate, document, and drive tasks for the project and provide the team with direction and support. You will communicate progress, challenges, and timeline regularly to leadership of Phoenix Paper.

Key responsibilities of the Project Engineer position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Independently manage small projects or a single major project with the responsibility for managing budget, schedule, and technical performance.
• Assure engagement and alignment from required project owners for all projects, including outside resources such as engineering partners and contractors.
• Facilitate the definition of project scope, budget, schedule, and goals.
• Assist in the development and execution of mill and area capital plans.
• Cultivate a work environment centered around employee ownership and engagement
• Lead all projects to achieve a safety and environmental incident free workplace identifying critical hazards and mitigating the risk based on criticality while achieving desired business objectives
• Review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding requirements, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects.
• Conducts project status reviews, readiness, project close out/completion, post project learning and implement best practices.
• Develop sub-contractors and project support procedures and site liaison responsibilities for third party management.
• Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
• Detailed Design oversight (engineering firms).
• Create RFPs for equipment, controls, detailed engineering firms and contractors.
• Coordinate all RFP and Bid efforts with Purchasing Department.
• Manage project resource allocation.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Multiple years’ experience in a project engineering role within a pulp and paper manufacturing operation.
• Safety program requirements for capital projects
• Process and regulatory knowledge (e.g. Technology, operating dynamics, Reliability, pulp and paper preferred)
• Project Cost Control, estimating, tracking, and forecasting.
• Working with Contracted Design Firms
