Job Description :

Civic Media, a growing Wisconsin radio network, is seeking to hire a Radio News Reporter/Anchor to join our dynamic team. This position would work out of the Wausau studio for WXCO and collaborate with our distributed statewide news team to gather and report local and regional news stories, with a focus on Marathon County and central Wisconsin.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Anchor newscasts to a local radio audience.
  • Monitor local, national, and international news sources multiple times daily.
  • Verify information with sources and ensure the accuracy of news reports.
  • Write and edit news scripts.
  • Collaborate with fellow reporters throughout Civic Media’s statewide network.
  • Report from the field when necessary based on the nature of the story.
  • Interview news subjects in the studio, over the phone, and in the field.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including editing skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a professional radio voice and delivery.
  • Ability to project trustworthiness.
  • Proficient in Google Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Broadcast Communications, Journalism, or related field. Bachelors preferred.
  • Three years of experience in radio or television announcing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel when reporting from the field.
  • Be available to work occasional nights and weekends when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
