Summary:
Under the general supervision of the studys principal investigator the role of the Research Assistant (RA) is to perform a variety of duties including form preparations various recruitment duties interactions with participants and their families data collection analysis and dissemination and other duties necessary to perform human-subjects research projects.

Responsibilities:
This full-time RA position in our sleep research lab includes a variety of duties undertaken in performing our research projects. These duties include: attending study planning meetings activities involved in participant recruitment (writing and placing advertisements brochures flyers; conducting telephone interviews; performing screening of research volunteers and their families); preparing materials studies (organizing protocols forms supplies); aiding data collection (e.g. performing structured interviews; collecting behavioral neurophysiological or cognitive data according to standard protocols); participating in data entry error checking and analysis; preparing and keeping regulatory materials; aiding in preparation of academic products such as presentations and manuscripts. RAs are expected to join the labs academic activities (e.g. journal club).

BASIC KNOWLEDGE

Bachelors level degree in psychology neuroscience cognitive science or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Prior research experience in human-subjects sleep psychology neuroscience or a data-driven behavioral science is preferred. Strong computer skills in Microsoft (e.g. Office Windows) and Apple computing environments. Prior experience with statistics and/or programming (for example experience with R STATA SPSS MATLAB UNIX Python) is a plus. Additional training is provided.

INDEPENDENT ACTION

Performs independently within department policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
