ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Safety Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for performing the safety and compliance administrative functions for all Skyland Grain and its affiliates’ locations as directed by management.

The individual must be highly self-motivated with effective reasoning, problem solving and multi-tasking ability. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate departmental records to include: employee safety files, DOT files, company compliance activity documentation, licensing, government mandated report filings, and accident investigations and recommended corrective actions. This position is also responsible for scheduling safety related meetings and trainings, use of the department’s software programs and ensuring accurate data input, and the communication of pertinent safety and compliance information with employees and supervisors. You may be asked to assist other departments with administrative duties as they arise.

What You’ll Need to Do This Job:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience in safety and/or agriculture industry is a plus, but not required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.
• Willingness to continue education.
• Communicate effectively with employees and management.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize items in terms of urgency and importance.
• Must be detail oriented and organized.
• A desire to be involved in agriculture and work for a cooperative.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

This position is in an office setting. Long periods of sitting are required. Employees may need to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
