FoodLuma, a premiere specialty food broker, is seeking a Sales Rep to join our growing team focusing on the Retail supermarket / Chain store sector.

Since 1995, FoodLuma / McKenna Marketing has been the go-to resource for placing products into the highly competitive specialty food world. We are a rapidly growing broker organization within the specialty food industry uniquely positioned to service clients and vendors across multiple food channels, both locally and nationally.

This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Director of Sales - West and is home-based in Northern California primarily managing retail /distributor accounts throughout the Bay Area.

Job Summary

The Sales Executive position is responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies and initiatives to expand existing and to establish new relationships within the retail supermarket channel. With a solid, working knowledge of the specialty food market, the ideal candidate is self-motivated, passionate about food, and has excellent communication skills. Requirements include a proven track record selling upscale and natural brands into large supermarket chains and independents and solid relationships with all key stakeholders in these channels.

This is an exciting position within the Sales Team to drive sales throughout Northern California.

Responsibilities

Sales & Vendor Management

· Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to increase sales and customer base overall

· Maintain relationships and increase sales volume to current customers through new item introductions, marketing, promotions, line extensions, and maintenance of existing product lines.

· Generate new business by expanding customer base within region

· Provide and analyze sales goals, performance and forecasting with Sales Manager.

· Maintain knowledge of new/emerging products, services, and markets to sustain and grow vendor product sales and market share

Administration & Reports­

  • Increase productivity and effectiveness through weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting (product sales, market status, trends, customer preferences, etc.)
  • Timely filing of expense reports and supporting documentation

Travel and/or Driving

  • Travel/driving is an essential function of this job, with occasional overnight travel as needed
  • Work in the field 4 days a week, and at home/office 1 day a week.
  • Food Show attendance – regional and some national shows

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3-5 years minimum experience in manufacturer, distributor and/or food broker sales in the retail supermarket sector
  • Must have a successful record of selling into large chains/independent retail accounts
  • Previous experience working with key distributors (KeHE, UNFI & Tony’s Fine Foods) a must
  • Experience managing business in Dairy, Deli and Bakery is preferred.
  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree preferred, in business or a related field
  • Required: Valid driving license, own/lease vehicle, and proof of insurance; ability to incur travel expenses for reimbursement
  • Self-motivated, with strong initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent time and territory management skills
  • Experience with trade shows and corporate/sales trainings
  • Ability to negotiate skillfully in challenging situations with both vendors and customers
  • Proven analytic, organizational and follow through skills
  • Positive, energetic and enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude; Team-first player
  • Familiarity with sales/CRM systems, MS Office and technology in general

Compensation: DOE
