Title: Sanitation Specialist

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Summary:

First District Association is a dairy cooperative that manufactures wholesome dairy products from high quality milk supplied from our family farms located throughout Minnesota. This Sanitation Specialist position will support the adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) code, and thus ensuring First District Association is compliant with providing safe and high quality products for customers and consumers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties in support of the Food Safety and Sanitation programs for the Litchfield, MN location.
  • Assists with annual and new employee training regarding cGMP’s and HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a champion in the adherence to FDA’s cGMP requirements, PPE requirements, company policies and procedures. Assists with completion of audits of all plant sites and warehousing.
  • Performs scheduled plant pre-operational inspections and environmental monitoring including swabbing, water sample collection, air plates and finger touch plates. Communicates results and works with plant management to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work closely with external vendors in management of pest control and prevention.
  • Sanitation document review including but not limited to FSMA forms, CIP charts/trends, and Master Sanitation Schedules.
  • Work closely with chemical service provider on CIP validations, updates and reviews the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and other sanitation concerns.
  • Assist with the development of reports on quality issues, trends, and KPIs.
  • Assist in the implementation of document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Work closely with external vendors in management of pest control and prevention.
  • Provide data entry into the quality related computer systems such as the CAPA database, customer specification database, DSI-ERP and SharePoint. Perform system reviews and generate input that will improve efficiency and ease data review.
  • Communicates with employees and management in a timely manner. Responsible for maintaining and assisting others to maintain the food safety, quality, sanitation and security standards set in place by First District Association.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification/requirement:

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in performing food safety and sanitation duties.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills including accuracy in documentation and reporting.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and be able to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills including quality control applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Must be able to achieve Internal Auditor and HACCP certifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform duties while transporting one-self between various locations within and around the plant site; this requires walking, standing, climbing stairs, stooping and bending
  • Must be able to perform duties higher than six feet off the ground
  • Must be able to tolerate both hot (100 + degrees F) and cold (30 degrees F) for at least 30 minute of time.

Salary: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
