Position Summary:
The Security Officer is a vital part of the team that provides a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors and employees as well as protects Mountain Lakes Medical Center buildings assets and property. Following guidelines set forth by the Security Management Plan and abiding by local, state, and federal law, officers respond to emergency situations that could lead to potential physical harm to themselves or others involved. They perform routine patrols and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Director of the department and present themselves in a manner that encourages civil behavior by others. They participate in programs to prevent theft, robbery, assurance of privacy, traffic control, and building lockdown. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Adheres to and enforces hospital security guidelines in all areas and notifies appropriate staff and security manager of activities, needs, and problems in assigned areas, daily and in emergency situations as appropriate.
Conducts proper hospital closing and opening procedures at established times; conducts active boiler room, A/C chillers, medical vacuum pump and elevator room checks as required.
Consults with the ED Charge Nurse and Security Manager, keeping them informed of all daily activities involving the oversight of admitted psychiatric patients.
Follows procedures in response to all emergency code and demonstrates calm and controlled behaviors during a crisis situation, properly documents the findings and results of the code response.
Participates in investigations as needed and maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities daily. Conducts initial investigations appropriately and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Posts in the Emergency Department (ED). Provide support to the ED medical and nursing staff involving uncooperative, non-compliant and combative medical patients being serviced in the ED. Monitors conduct of all hospital visitors and patients.
Provides assistance when requested by medical or nursing staff, or when patients or their families ask for assistance or information.

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Ability to conduct routine investigations & prepare incident reports.
One year of security experience preferred.
Good written and oral communications skills.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Programs, and job related software
