We are seeking a new Senior Director, Public Policy. This position will be largely remote but ideally working from the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area.

The Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) is a not-for profit educational association (501 c6) dedicated to advancing the understanding of where, how, and why diesel technology fits in the future. Now entering its 23rd year, DTF uniquely represents global leaders in advanced diesel engines, vehicles fuels and equipment, along with key suppliers and both petroleum and renewable fuel producers. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director, Public Policy will be a key part of the DTF team; of communications and outreach experts and consultants charged with advancing the understanding and value of advanced fuels and technologies and how they compare to other approaches and contribute to meeting climate and clean air goals.

The ideal candidate will have a mix of current technical and policy experience, knowledge and analytical skills in the transportation, energy, climate, environmental or fuels policy sector. Familiarity with federal and state legislative and policymaking is essential, as this position will lead efforts to engage decisionmakers in these settings. This is not a formal government affairs or lobbying position, but educating Congressional staff and state policymakers is one of the primary activities.

This position conducts policy-related analysis, and develops responsive comments and messaging as well as helps develop organizational strategy, lead technical research, and help implement outreach and education activities to key influencers.

In 2023, the Forum is expanding its horizons, implementing a new mission and vision for the future. The Senior Director, Public Policy position will play an integral part in helping define and deliver this next chapter in representing advanced internal combustion engines and sustainable fuels in public policy venues and national dialogues. Qualifications Include

· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or policy discipline.

· 10+ years of directly related and progressively responsible work in a government affairs and issues management, policy and/or communications roles in the automotive, transportation, fuels, energy, or environmental sectors.

· Skills required include the ability to analyze proposed policies and prepare and deliver written comments and testimony, use of government and published research on technical matters such as climate and transportation policy and life cycle analysis to formulate messaging and contribute to other aspects of the program.

· Excellent writing, presenting and communications skills, as this position will interact regularly with members and external stakeholders including media and NGO’s. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to general audiences is essential.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
