Job Description Summary
The primary objective of the Senior Instructional and Online Media Specialist is to provide technical expertise in the design, installation and ongoing support of Campus Presentation Technology including, assisting in project plans, physical installation, and maintaining technology equipment in all university classrooms and conference rooms. He/she will also be responsible for troubleshooting both immediate and non-immediate classroom help calls.

Essential Duties
  • Support all presentation technology in Bentley's 70+ "smart" classrooms, array of high-tech "specialty labs", and any facility utilizing presentation technology
  • Perform field service support and maintenance of all presentation technologies on campus, including equipment installed to support the functions overseen by The Conference Center (TCC)
  • Identify and respond to any equipment failure and oversee repair, troubleshoot technology and faculty/student/staff usability issues in teaching and learning and conferencing environments
  • Triage issues to provide prompt and effective responses
  • Provide custom and targeted faculty, student, and staff services, and oversee/perform unscheduled repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom A/V infrastructure including classroom control systems, projectors, sound systems, and microphones
  • Support Bentley's digital signage system hardware
  • Work with the CPT team to develop training and documentations for the student staff
  • Combine solid analytical skills and experience with complementary technical skills in the areas of online and classroom presentation technologies
  • Strive to give the highest quality service possible to faculty, students and staff by demonstrating a track record for excellent client satisfaction as well as minimal downtime of the technology infrastructure
  • Research, identify and recommend new technologies and trends in presentation technologies
  • Work closely with other centers and departments across campus (The Conference Center (TCC), Registrar, Directors of Specialty Labs, Client Services) to upgrade and install instructional and presentation technology on campus
  • Provide workshops and trainings related to classroom and other A/V technologies

Other Duties
  • Manages work-study students supporting instructional technology and providing field service support to all presentation technology facilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Strong technical background in presentation technology, particularly on digital audio processors/mic systems and their applications/programming
  • Familiarity with network-enabled A/V systems
  • Familiarity with A/V control systems like Extron, QSC, or Crestron
  • Strong A/V and computer related technical skills
  • Dedication to remaining current on new technologies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills including communication, empathy, and patience
  • Highly comfortable with using and supporting web conferencing platforms and digital collaboration tools like Zoom, Teams, SMART technologies, and other Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in support of classroom technologies and in an environment where state-of-the-art presentation technology is used in classroom-type environments as well as in seminar and conference type settings
  • Experience supporting faculty and staff in a high-pressure, quick resolution environment
  • Experience supporting online education programs
  • Industry standard A/V certifications such as CTS, Extron, Crestron, or QSC

Physical Demands
  • Ability to regularly perform physical tasks including ascending/descending ladders; must be able to individually lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with the assistance of others; ability to move mobile carts containing equipment
  • Time spent at a workstation/repair bench is spent testing and repairing equipment and contacting those with whom maintenance services must be coordinated
  • Fine motor skills are required to accomplish testing and repair
  • The ability to work with equipment in hard to reach areas is frequently required

Work Environment
  • A significant amount of time is spent out of the office testing and tuning equipment, supporting faculty, interacting with other members of the Bentley community as well as vendors, and resolving service calls. Frequent movement between campus buildings.
  • Speed and accuracy is often required while responding to service calls in the field. In contact with office is via cell phone

Work Schedule
  • Regular weekly schedule of 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday unless otherwise arranged with the manager
  • Occasionally, there will be on call duties outside of regular work hours, including weekends
  • Summer hours will provide the opportunity for a 4-day week with the following Friday off. These summer hours may be rotated among the team due to support needs
  • All working hours and shifts are subject to change due to classroom and event support needs
