The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Phantom Works Team in Berkeley, MO, serving as the Mission System Chief Software Architect . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. This position requires strong technical leadership and communication skills. Applicants must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
Defining and refining the mixed criticality (Level of Rigor (LOR) 2/3/4/5) mission system software architecture
Overseeing platform specific aspects of the mission system software architecture, ensuring that the solution is fully compliant with all applicable reference architecture, safety and security compliance requirements
Guiding and shaping the definition and evolution of the associated reference architecture, including modeling, and compliance requirements
Working with suppliers providing mission system components, ensuring architectural, safety and security compliance of those components
Working with the Senior Software Integrator, ensuring that the software architecture is correctly integrated into the mission system
Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
Leads software research and development projects

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain Top Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start) or (Pre-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
10+ years of direct experience architecting, designing and developing software for an embedded, real-time system
Extensive background with C++ and object-oriented programming

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Demonstrated experience collecting complex engineering data from multiple sources and the ability to organize and communicate data concisely to senior and executive leadership
Demonstrated experience leading a team of software engineers using agile development process
Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of defense airworthiness and safety requirements to include familiarity with MIL-STD-882E, MIL-HDBK-516C, and AC-17-01
Demonstrated basic understanding of anti-tamper cyber security technologies, methodologies, and cryptography
First-hand experience with the latest software development tools such as Kubernetes, Docker Containers; including container orchestration and deployment of Microservices
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), with knowledge of SysML

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience)
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for Experienced: $151,300 - $204,700.00

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
