Job Description :

The Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development is seeking a part-time Student Activities Assistant to help

develop, coordinate, and support co-curricular activities at Columbia Greene Community College. This position will coordinate in-person and online programming, develop program marketing, learn and use C-GCC online platforms, and manage various office processes. The ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate activities is expected. The part time Student Activities Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Activities & Leadership Development.

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Manage table requests and reservations from on-and-off campus partners
  • Approval marketing materials for campus bulletin boards in accordance with the posting policy.
  • Oversee the digital marketing system and keep up to date with relevant & appropriate materials.
  • Event management – organization, coordination, implementation and assessment of all student-related activities and functions hosted by the office. plan, setup, facilitate, assess.
  • Collaborate with various campus offices on programs and initiatives.
  • Utilization of Get Involved! student engagement system for all aspects of office offerings.
  • Submit Buildings and Grounds work order requests and CIS equipment requests for all department programs.
  • Assist in supervision of student workers and assigns their daily tasks.
  • Assist campus clubs & organizations, as needed.
  • Maintains and operates ID Card system for all staff and students.
  • Assist in all phases of Commencement.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Activities & Leadership Development and the Dean of Student Development.

Specialized Skills

  • Ability to multitask with day-to-day changes in priorities.
  • Handle and complete several ongoing projects and activities in a work environment characterized by frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 to create and analyze reports, manage data, resource materials and presentations.
  • Ability to learn and use campus student engagement platform.
  • Conduct presentations on programmatic co-curricular activities.
  • Working knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of campus policies, procedures, rules and regulations and their application to student organizations, student activities and expression, and student governance structures preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year college degree and two years related full-time work experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and relevant experience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills required to build and maintain cooperative working relationships among diverse individuals and groups.
  • Basic knowledge with event planning, coordination and implementing program activities.
  • Basic experience in program development of student organizations and activities, new student transition, leadership programs, career services, cross-cultural center, and student academic success centers preferred.

Salary and Benefit Information

Hourly rate is $15.30. Some benefits include New York State Retirement options, supplemental retirement and life insurance options and employee tuition waiver.
