Verity is hiring for a Commercial Loan Officer at our Headquarters location in Seattle! This job can be worked remotely; this is a hybrid work opportunity. The Commercial Loan Officer will focus their efforts on lending and depository relationships with BIPOC, Women, LGBTQA+ and Veteran community business members, and promoting equitable business products to underserved communities. This position develops and maintains account relationships both credit and non-credit. This may include programs such as SBA, deposit relationships, etc. The Commercial Loan Officer develops primary member and prospect lists within assigned territory for the purpose of marketing a broad range of financial services. They interview applicants and obtain information regarding earnings and financial condition to evaluate the applicant's creditworthiness. The Commercial Loan Officer provides credit and loan analysis, underwriting and relationship expertise to the Business Services team and to members. This person is responsible for making decisions on underwriting credit for the smaller and medium sized loan with moderate complexity Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) credits.

  • Base Pay: This position has a salary range of $91,732.00 (minimum) to $143,332.00 (maximum), with a midpoint of $114,666.00. Actual starting pay is offered based upon relevant experience, education, skills, and abilities.
  • Paid Time Off: Employees receive 11 paid holidays each year, as well as paid time off (PTO). PTO combines sick and vacation time and starts accruing immediately at a rate equivalent to 20 days per year. Employees are eligible for up to 8 hours of paid volunteer time off each year.
  • Benefits: Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, with a no cost option available for employee only coverage. Employees are able to enroll in our 401k plan and receive a matching contribution up to 6%. Other perks include a wellness subsidy, transportation benefit, and education reimbursement.
  • Other Compensation: This position is eligible for monthly incentives, a 10% profit-sharing bonus to 401k accounts based on company performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Actively promote Verity through community involvement and/or industry related organizations.
  • Act as the relationship manager and meet with existing and prospective Business Services members to determine needs and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures and keep up to date on regulation changes.
  • Negotiate credit terms, costs, repayment methods and collateral specifications, within lending authority.
  • Recommend and/or approve credit requests within lending authority.
  • Provide recommendations to EMT & leadership on new credit requests and annual reviews.
  • Cross-sell a full range of Business Services products and services to existing and prospective business members.
  • Coach and develop member-facing staff regarding Small Business products and services.
  • Analyze financial data related to new and renewal loan requests.
  • Supervise Business Analyst staff and mentor for personal and professional growth.
  • Work effectively with Branch Management and Business Services support staff to manage all aspects of the portfolio and sales goals.
  • Provide support to vendors and attorneys or resources to obtain correct and accurate documents to fully protect Veritys interests in the credit relationship.
  • Provide technical and consultative assistance to member contact areas regarding Business Services.
  • Adhere to all Verity policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete all required compliance and/or job-specific training.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with Competencies and Information Protection requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent work or educational experience.
  • Three years of experience in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) analysis, underwriting and relationship management in financial institutions.
  • Three years of experience using a variety of analytical tools to spread financial statements, analyze credit quality, analyze balance sheets, assess cash flow, model base case and downside forecasts, evaluate risk and support credit approval.
  • Experience with SBA and Commercial Real Estate lending programs is preferred

  • Analytical and problem solving skills in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending, including in-depth knowledge of industry practices.
  • Knowledge of financial industry regulations and standards including federal and state laws
  • Ability to exercise independent and collaborative decision making

  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial data
