Controller, Springfield OH

SUMMARY:

IH Credit Union is looking for an experienced and ambitious controller to oversee all accounting functions. Applicants should have a good combination of analytical and communication skills as well as the ability to improve productivity to achieve the financial targets of the credit union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage accounting functions to include AP, AR, budgets, cash flow, cost management, financial analysis, financial reporting and recordkeeping, GL, and investments.

· Serves as a member of the Asset Liability Management Committee (ALCO). Attends other organizational committees including the Investment Committee. Supports the preparation of asset/liability management simulations.

· Responsible for accurate and timely submission of internal and external financial reports including monthly financial statements and statistical reports including the NCUA Call Report.

· Demonstrates leadership and professional development to the Accounting team through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication consistent with the Credit Unions strategic initiatives and vision.

· Develops and completes an annual department business plan and budget as well oversee the entire credit union budget preparation process.

· Assists in managing the external relationships with auditors and regulators including responding to exceptions or recommendations, if any.

· Monitors all accounting activities to ensure conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable laws, regulations and credit union policies/procedures.

· Stays informed of applicable developments in the accounting field, financial services industry, and of changing governmental and legal requirements.

· Manage daily operations, especially member service and finance activities, and search for process improvements.

· Knowledgeable regarding modern management techniques and best practices.

• Monitor cost control activities. Approve and implement cost control strategies on an as needed basis.
• Participate in identifying deposit and loan rates.
• Performs other various duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree; or five to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related work experience may substitute for education.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as credit bureau reports, procedure manuals, etc.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively with members and other employees of organization.
Able to communicate effectively by telephone and email.
