POSITION SUMMARY

The EHR Educator is responsible for the development and execution of EHR training programs and delivery solutions meeting both Federal and state requirements. The EHR Educator provides subject matter expertise in specialized populations and person-centered care planning. He/she will develop training content, deliver training, and proactively identifies and diagnoses business opportunities for improvements, makes recommendations for adjustments to training programs and content. The EHR Educator will deliver synchronous and asynchronous learning events using varied media in virtual and in-person environments. The EHR Educator will employ rapid course development methodologies to quickly meet evolving market needs and will exercise classroom management evaluating learner performance. The candidate will collaborate with customer to understand their business requirements and will escalate issues to leadership when necessary. The incumbent must have the ability to measure, track, and evaluate learner and market satisfaction. The specialist should think and act globally and be aware of learning style and cultural differences that drive trainer and learner effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Determines training objectives and designs effective training materials and techniques for individuals with different levels of computer literacy.

2. Assists mangers/leaders in establishing educational goals and plans regarding clinical application of Allscripts for thedepartment/clinics.

3. Designs and delivers new hire training and on-going user training for improved documentation, quick familiarity with system changes and upgrades.

4. Clearly communicates both written and oral presentations to a diverse audience ranging from unskilled personnel to highly trained professionals representing a wide range of computer skills.

5. Quickly gains an in-depth understanding of clinical and operational workflows to develop and implement training for documentation in Allscripts.

6. Prepares reports that documents end user’s learning with course objectives and evaluates Allscripts Training effectiveness.

7. Serves as a resource/educational consultant to assigned team to create a sustainable intuitive education program for clinical and non-clinical staff.

8. Works independently.

9. Collaborates, networks, and researches subject matter to refine and enhance clinical documentation to meet current accreditation standards and evidence-based practice standards.

10. Promotes and role-models the mission, values, visions, and strategic goals of TCRHCC in all interaction with customers and patients

11. Demonstrates excellent internal and external customer service skills such as friendly greeting, making eye contact, listening attentively, responding in a timely manner, showing respect and empathy, and acting as a role model for staff and peers.

12. Daily rounding and provide at the elbow support to clinical staff and providers as needed.

13. Ensure proper PPE is always worn while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.

14. Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (See CDC website for most current updates)

15. Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee and external customer satisfaction.

16. All other tasks/duties as assigned.

PROBLEM SOLVING

The EHR Educator independently performs using a variety of learning platforms that teach how to use the EHR at multiple levels of computer literacy. The duties require emotional maturity, organizational ability, and professional commitment. The EHR Educator utilizes independent priority setting, problem solving and decision making to take immediate action when indicated.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

Physical:

Work requires prolonged ability to sit, walk, stand, reach, and maintain balance. Incumbent must be able to frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and twist. Occasionally may need to climb and drive. Agility and the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 24lbs for a prolonged period of time, frequently up to 34lbs, and occasionally over 100lbs to move patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, et cetera, and in moving equipment and medical supplies. Incumbent must have the sensory ability for far vision; near vision; color vision; depth perception; seeing fine details; hearing normal speech; hearing overhead pages through loudspeaker; and telephone use. both hand manipulation of prolonged ability with simple grasping, fine manipulation, and use of keyboards. Frequent hand manipulation ability with firm grasping.

Mental:

Must be able to prioritize and use good judgment. Must be able to coordinate a variety of issues while being frequently interrupted. Incumbent must have the ability to cope with high level of stress; make decisions under high pressure; cope with anger/fear/hostility of others in a calm way; manage altercations; concentrate; handle a high degree of flexibility; handle multiple priorities in stressful situations; work alone; and demonstrate high degree of patience. Frequently will need to adapt to shift work and work in areas that are close and crowded. Must be able to accept a flexible schedule to meet unit needs.

Environmental:

May be frequently exposed to Infectious Diseases and loud noises. May also occasionally be exposed to chemical agents; dust, fumes, gases; extremes in temperature or humidity; hazardous or moving equipment; and unprotected heights.

IMPACT

This position has a very high impact on the quality of documentation of patients. Inaccurate documentation result in risk management intervention. Designs and implement educational training programs, evaluate the effectiveness of programs and the competency of the clinical staff with regards to documenting in the Electronic Health Record.

Job Requirements

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

License:

A valid, current, full, and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States of America, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States and maintained throughout current employment.

Experience:

Minimum of one year of training experience in software delivery implementations and working with customers.

Other Skills and Abilities:

A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in each one of the following areas:

· Assesses, plans, develops, and implements an educational program for clinical and non-clinical staff

· Excellent analytic capabilities

· Excellent communication and presentation skills

· Treats people with dignity, professionalism, and kindness.

· Intermediate to advanced computer use skills including typing, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, dragon, etc.

· Experience with healthcare projects implementation

· Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently

· Completion of and above-satisfactory scores on all job interviews, demonstrating to the satisfaction of the interviewees and TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job

· Successful completion of and positive results from all background and reference checks, including positive employment references from authorized representatives of past and current employers demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC a record of satisfactory performance and that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job

· Successful completion of fingerprint clearance requirements, physical examinations, and other screenings indicating that the applicant is qualified to be employed by TCRHCC and demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job

· Submission of all required employment-related documents, applications, resumes, references, and other required information free of false, misleading or incomplete information, as determined by TCRHCC.

Certification:

Certified Technical Trainer (CCT +)

Education:

Master’s degree in informatics

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to speak Navajo, Hopi, or San Juan Southern Paiute
