Who we are looking for

We are seeking a software engineer to work on the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of software for a variety of embedded systems. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing embedded systems group at Re:Build. You will work in cross functional team environments and provide software solutions for new product development efforts. You should have a solid background in software development methodologies as well as experience designing and developing firmware which directly interfaces with microcontrollers and their peripherals. The Embedded Software Engineer will be an integral part of our growing team.

  • Work closely with hardware engineers and the Embedded Software Architect

What you bring to the Team

  • BS in electrical engineering, robotics, computer science or related engineering disciplines.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience writing embedded software
  • Proficient in embedded software development using C/C++ including bare-metal coding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience writing microcontroller firmware which directly controls a variety of hardware peripherals.
  • Experience using scripting languages to control hardware resources like LabJack, Arduino, or RaspberryPi
  • Experience with serial communications including I2C, SPI, and RS-232
  • Working knowledge of microcontrollers and their common peripherals. Serial interfaces, sensors, electromechanical devices, etc.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of software management tools such as Git/Subversion, and Jira
  • Experience using real-time operating systems on embedded controllers. Writing applications, writing drivers, and modifying the operating system
  • Background in hardware/software integration and hardware debugging
  • Working knowledge of common regulatory standards such as FCC emission requirements, UL safety standards. Understanding of medical device certification (ISO 13485, IEC 62304) bonus

Location Requirement

  • Must be able to work on-site in Woburn a majority of the time
