Tel-Instrument Electronics Corp., a world leader in the development and design of avionics test equipment for the commercial and military aviation industry with a 70+ year history, has an immediate opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer with real time programming experience at our Lawrence Kansas facility.

Job Description:

Tel-Instrument Electronics Corp. (www.telinst.com) is seeking an experienced software engineer to assist in the development of our next generation SDR/OMNI RF test set. This position entails working in modern C++ in an embedded operating environment. The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of systems programming and be able to break down and execute high-level development tasks with minimal guidance. Mentoring younger engineers is a key aspect of this position. This is a full-time on-site position at our Lawrence, Kansas facility.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
• Ability to analyze complex software and hardware issues and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Collaborate with other Software, Firmware and Hardware engineers.
• Design and implement new features as required by sales and internal needs.
• Develop strategies for testing and ensuring quality of the product.
• Debugging at the rudimentary signal level (using Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power meters).

Position Requirements:

• BS in Computer Engineering (CoE) or Computer Science (CS).
• 3-5+ years of C++ software development experience, including experience with C++11 or newer.
• Background in software development under Linux.
• Experience with Real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of contemporary workflow tools such as Git and Jira.
• Added Plus: Some exposure to Avionics technologies such as ADS-B, TACAN, GPS, etc.
• Added Plus: Familiarity with Python 3 and/or VHDL and some exposure to digital signal processing.
• Added Plus: Familiarity with embedded Linux distributions (Yocto or Buildroot).

Compensation:

Depending on experience, the salary range will be $60k to $125k. TIC will provide an attractive compensation package including health care coverage for both employee and family; and 401(k) match.
