Job Description :

The Manager, Project Development will help identify and assess utility-scale energy projects for greenfield development. They will participate on due diligence teams in support of development-phase acquisitions. The Manager, Project Development will manage ongoing development efforts and will conduct project siting and negotiates various land rights. They will also coordinate discretionary permitting activities, consultant work and external relations support and willguide conceptual engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work product in support of project development and permitting. Visit project sites. Meet with government agencies, while forging relationships with community leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Manage scope of work and review work product for consultants and contractors providing real estate, environmental permitting, transmission, engineering and external relations services.
  • Interface extensively with other internal subject matter experts including Origination, Real Estate, Financial Analysis, Legal and Engineering & Construction.
  • Prepare management presentations on project opportunities, development status and fiscal requirements.
  • Prepare preliminary budget and project schedule. Obtain approval for project expenditures. Prepares inputs to project pro forma financial projections.
  • Monitor opportunities in new U.S. markets, industry trends and government regulations affecting renewable energy.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Engineering,Environmental Science or business-related studies or background.

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of related professional experience, preferably in power project development.

Job Skills:
  • Position requires the ability to conceptualize and strategize.
  • Requires strength in critical thinking skills and drive for objectives.
  • Requires highly effective communication skills, both written and oral, and will at times require presentation skills and public speaking.
  • Team management and team building are also necessary skills. Ability to manage activities underway on multiple projects essential.
  • Self-motivation and attention to detail are important.
  • Understanding financial implications of project economics and managing the cost of prospective projects required.
  • In addition, the position requires effective computer skills including GIS, spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and project management software.
  • 40% of travel and field work required.
