The Anchorage Senior Center is an activity center for seniors 50 and older.

Anchorage Senior Center's purpose is to improve living conditions for the elderly. To advance that purpose the center operates the Municipality of Anchorage's Senior Center by providing seniors with access to services and information key to senior living, health, and housing. Members enjoy other benefits such as crafts, arts, computers, and fitness instruction. Members can also take advantage of recreational pursuits such as billiards, cards, dancing, monthly birthday party, and other social events.

Position Description:

The Operations Director reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the operational success of the nonprofit by ensuring seamless team management and development, delivery, quality control, and evidence-based evaluation and outcomes of programs. In this newly established role, this position will manage multiple programs within the organization.

The Operations Director is responsible for oversight and long-range planning of programs and projects. The primary responsibilities are to manage the staff, and marketing of the center’s programs, working collaboratively with the Finance Director and the Communication Director as needed. Additionally, this position is responsible for organizational development and closely works with the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • Previous nonprofit experience preferred
  • Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license
  • Must be first aid and CPR certified or willing to become so

Experience

Specific requirements include:

  • A minimum five years of team-collaboration experience, with three of those in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated success in developing and evaluating program models and selecting and providing oversight of programs
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth for evidenced-based outcomes.
  • Experience with a diverse, consensus-building, multi-skilled peer group
  • Hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility, span-of-control and performance
  • Understanding of human resources, employee performance improvement plans, and corrective action policies
  • Demonstrated results in managing through complex workplace dynamics and proven experience negotiating win-win outcomes
  • Understanding of fund development preferred.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for serving seniors

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize teamwork.
  • Together with the Executive Director and the Finance/Administration Director, review insurance benefit programs prior to renewal
  • Assist the ED in managing projects within the organization
  • Assist the Executive Director in the day-to-day management of the nonprofit program activities
  • Circulate in the ASAC building to ensure contact is maintained among programs, staff, and volunteer activities.
  • Ensure smooth and seamless operations between clients and management.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Complete leadership assignments with an in-depth understanding of outcome intention
  • Provide support to Executive Director at her/his direction

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
