Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations. This position will oversee 2 locations: Watcos rail operation in coordination with the Yellowstone Valley Railroad along with operations at the Dore, ND Transload Terminal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• The General Manager must achieve performance goals with optimum safety, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness ensuring profitability of all departments.
• The GM will have the responsibility of controlling expenses in all areas of the operation. The GM will be accountable to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed by Team Members in his charge and all are administered fairly and equitably.
• The GM will prepare and conduct performance appraisals for all supervisors and personnel reporting to him
• The GM will administer wage increases consistent with established budgets, skill level achievements, and safety and Team Member behavior toward their job responsibilities. The GM must maintain sufficient and relevant marketing knowledge to continuously monitor and support increased revenue, and growth in customer base.
• Selection, training, and positive motivation of a viable management team to conduct company business and guide manageable and profitable company growth is central to GM responsibility.
• Learn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgment.
• Working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating principles
• Lead large groups of team members and consistently show a high level of professionalism
• Transload of transfer oil or dry bulk products - Frac Sand, salt, grain and other products, tofrom railcars and trucks utilizing safe operating procedures.
• Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping and daily inventory.
• Conduct inspections and trainings.
• Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management or customer.
• Operate in a manner where SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT are of the highest importance.
• Climb onto top and underneath railcars in order to inspect and seal railcars using a checklist
• Perform structural inspections as required.
• Prepare equipment for product transfer.
• Start, stop, and operate engines/pumps within defined operating parameters.
• Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work outside majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions.
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed.
• Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Business degree is preferred but may accept a combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 2 years of Operational Leadership
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License required.

• Operate a loader for snow removal, impact guns, air tools, man lift to work in load out, be able to operate a vehicle, raise and lower loading arms, wire cutters to cut zip ties, power tools, wrenches.
• PPE; FR clothing, vest, hard hat, gloves, steel toed boots, safety glasses, radio
