The Operations Manager oversees and coordinates the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric distribution system and broadband fiber distribution systems. This position is also responsible for the integrated vegetation management plan, advanced metering infrastructure, and vehicle support and maintenance. All said work should be conducted in a manner the meets established standards and reflects the most efficient utilization of construction and operation methods, techniques and equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing and providing daily supervision of all electric distribution line personnel, fiber distribution line personnel, operation coordinator support staff and vegetation management staff
• Prepares and manages the four-year distribution system work plan for both electric and fiber utilities.
• Reports all monthly operations activities to the CEO and Arrowhead Board of Directors.
• Oversee hiring, evaluation, and termination of employees.
• Provides operations department input into the annual budget process.
• Manage inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Manage all departmental financial activities.
• Supports work order accounting efforts and aids in the development of electric and broadband service rates/pricing to ensure adequate cost recovery.

Requirements:

Typical requirements include a bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of ten (10) years related work experience in the utilities industry. Preferred knowledge and experience in the telecommunications industry. A combination of education and work experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position may be considered. Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with all staff, managers, members and vendors. The person in this position will acquire a firm knowledge of the cooperative operations, including RUS line construction specifications, policies and procedures within a reasonable time span. A Journeyman Lineman Certificate is highly recommended. Must have a valid driver’s license.
