Project Manager at S&J Entrance & Window Specialists – Farmingdale, NY

Overview

As the Tri-State area’s top Architectural Metal and Glass contractor, S&J understands the importance of getting it right!

We are family owned and operated, with over 30 years in the Tri-State’s architectural metal and glass market. At our 25,000sf shop located in Farmingdale, New York, we have the tools and the team necessary to fabricate in-house, resulting in shorter lead times and more control over the final product.

We are currently in need of a Project Manager to fill a full time, first shift (Monday-Friday) position.

Responsibilities

· Project managers are responsible for managing a number of concurrently running projects at differing stages of completion: field measuring, negotiating and resolving financial disputes and change order work, producing field and possible subcontracting schedules, ordering material, liaising with management for project updates and maintaining project tracking reports for financials and project due diligence.

· Understanding current construction practices and using best judgement to plan and prioritize workloads, material lead times and deadlines.

· Problem solving issues that arise either in the planning phases or on site, using knowledge and experience to suggest best practices when it comes to performing the work in our scope.

· Participate and contribute to pre-construction meetings with general contractors, architectural and engineering firms.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors as well as material and equipment suppliers ensuring all quality and safety standards are met.

· Assist other project managers as necessary.

Qualifications

· 5-10 Years Experience in NYC architectural and glass construction market.

· Experience in resolving project management issues and providing quality service to clients.

· Pays attention to detail.

· Knowledge of different metal types, metal finishes, storefront/entrance/door hardware and glass types.

· Willingness to travel to New York City and throughout the Tri-State area, as necessary.

· Comfortable meeting the physical demands of the position: standing/walking during the day, driving/taking public transportation, occasional light lifting, etc.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Must be reliable and able to maintain a successful working relationship with our Production Manager, Shop Foreman, Estimators, Draftsmen, General Contractors, Vendors and other colleagues, both in the shop and out in the field.

· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in construction related fields, Architecture, or Engineering preferred.
