Essential Functions

R&D Project Engineer will be responsible managing R&D projects related to lab infrastructure and process improvements, safety improvements and other capital projects for the Daramic Technical Center. The R&D Project Engineer will also be responsible for engineering support of all labs. The primary goal is to rapidly develop new membrane products to meet the needs of our customers.

  • Manage projects with focus on lab improvements, both capital and non-capital, and other critical capital projects for theDaramic Technical Center. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
    • Communicate with key stakeholders to determine project needs and requirements,
    • Developing project plans as outlined in the Daramic FEL process,
    • Maintain detailed project timeline and budget and execute project accordingly,
    • Ensure all project documentation is completed properly and in a timely manner,
    • Ensure all safety regulations are being followed and any new procedures are trained upon before project completion.
  • Support allDaramic Technical Center labs for any engineering needs. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
    • Basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems,
    • Ability to perform detailed root cause analysis with a team,
    • Utilize statistical and analytical tools to develop solutions to given problems,
    • Ability to work with plant engineers and/or outside engineering services when needed,
    • Work with lab supervisors to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are developed and executed.
  • Maintains, understands and develops use of present process monitoring methods and assesses potential improvements.
  • Builds knowledge of Daramic extrusion, extraction and finishing processes.
  • Shares information clearly in meetings, presentations or technical reports to management and other stakeholders.
  • Willing to accept and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work as a member or leader of a team.
  • Design Systems as necessary to support the lab functions as well as any needs in the pilot area.

  • Senior Product Development Engineer, Product Development Manager, Project Manager, Continuous Improvement Engineering Manager or Plant Engineering Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS


Active Work

Pilot plant setting that would require working in a pilot lab environment. Work will require standing and walking for up to 75% of the time. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Education, Experience, and skills


Education: BS, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical degree.

Professional experience: Minimum 3 years with degree, 5+ years of experience preferred.

Communications: Able to interact directly with Daramic machine operators, lab technicians, plant technical staff and engineers, outside engineering and/or testing facilities and vendors to assure that projects proceed in a timely manner. Actively listens. Shares information in a way to build teamwork and achieve business objectives. Hands On mentality to do what is necessary to get the job done.

Languages: English

Skills: Experience with project management tools and project leadership experience. System Design Experience. Enthusiastic team player. Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting. Able to plan and prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Report writing and computer skills to build/use Spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and Word documents. FEA Analysis is a plus
