The Regional Manager will manage the operational, financial and business development within an assigned region. The position is responsible for the financial and safety performance within the assigned geographic area (California). .

Responsibilities

Primary Outcome:

Provide leadership to operations area with primary responsivity of driving a safety culture in all aspects of work, demonstrating knowledge, experience and maturity through the management & execution of goals and objectives within the region.

• Engage business development and sales activities, including existing clients to ensure market penetration for Depot’s services.
• Ensure revenue and profit expectations (per identified plans / budgets) are achieved

Senior Leadership:

• Establish and manage the goals and objectives for the Depots in the designated region.
• Develop performance and labor strategies to compete in new and existing markets.
• Oversee the preparation of facility results and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Ensure all company objectives, customer’s needs, project policies, procedure standards and safety programs are adhered to in the course of delivering work or services.
• Provide input and direction to planning, scheduling, and other support functions as required.
• Work with employees at all levels of the business. Place focus on enhancement of core competencies at all levels in the organization
• Assess competency of direct reports and ensures development requirements are in place and being actively managed.
• Perform annual performance evaluations and initiates disciplinary action if required for direct reports.

Safety:

• Ensures safety systems are in place; being "actively" managed; and producing continuous improvement to eliminate unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Assure all job specific qualifications and certifications are current, by employee, by customer.
• Responsible to develop and implement assigned region’s safety plan with appropriate tracking and management to ensure full compliance with safety policies and safety metrics.
• Effectively communicate safety culture, goals and objectives throughout the region of responsibility.

Business Development/Sales and Market Growth:

• Engage in market business development and sales activities, both individually and in conjunction with regional and corporate personnel. Identify potential demand for Depot’s services and drive to meet the demand.
• Manage relationships with existing customers and leverage to acquire potential “new” customers.
• Responsible for participating in the development and execution of Business strategies with other Regional Managers and/or Senior Leadership.
• Responsible to develop and execute specific strategies that advances Depot’s market position in an assigned region.

P&L:

• Adhere to performance goals, operations objectives, project reviews, and formal auditing.
• Oversee equipment requirements for the line of business.
• Participate in annual overall budget planning for the assigned region.
• Continuously manage financial performance against set budgets plans for in the region assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience; depot, transportation, logistics, warehousing or intermodal operations.
• Business development experience
• 5+ years of experience leading employees is required
• 3+ years of P&L/Budget experience keep
• Ability to travel up to 60%
• Prior Union experience
• Analytical thought process with strong business acumen
• Always current as it pertains to market and evolving practices in the industry
• Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Web Based Data systems
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent verbal, written, communication and collaboration skills
