Position overview

Industrial Scientific is seeking a team player that has a passion for learning to build software applications as a developer intern! This is a hands-on role designed to introduce professional software development principles and practices to contribute to our next generation platform. You will develop applications that drive site safety management solutions that support hazardous gas detection, monitoring, and response needs.

Responsibilities and deliverables

Working in a team environment to design, code, test, document and deliver new/modified functionality

Take on substantial tasks that will contribute to our existing codebase

Write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications using current programming language and technologies.

Proactively communicate ideas, proposals, questions and solutions.

Participate in software design and code reviews.

Participate in group discussions by expressing thoughts and ideas clearly.

Qualifications

Final year student working toward Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other major with comparable experience providing necessary qualifications.

Fast learner, results-driven, and highly motivated with good communication skills to solve challenging technical problems in a start-up like environment.

Knowledgeable in web development, software engineering processes, and methodologies.

Embrace challenge/ambiguity and adaptable to agile and fast paced environments.

High level Object Oriented Programming languages. (ex. C#/Java/Python/Go)

Working knowledge of a cloud platform. (ex. AWS/GCP/Azure)

Microservices, containerization, orchestration, and scaling. (ex. Docker, Kubernetes)

Knowledgeable in relational & non-relational databases like Postgres or MongoDb.

Understanding of RESTful web services.
