Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This position will also work with other organizations as a technical assistant with guidance from management.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares financial reports and monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements for for-profit and non-profit organizations.
• Update and maintain general ledger and other financial schedules including, but not limited to adjusting journal entries.
• Assist with coding invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. Follow contract guidelines and provide technical assistance.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Assist clients and other team members with assigned tasks which includes, but not limited to reviewing invoices, verification of payments, developing policies and processes, understanding financial statements, assist with preparing compilations, review and audited financial statements.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting.
• Some knowledge or understanding of QuickBooks and other accounting software.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
• One to three years of related experience required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,500.00 - $65,000.00 per year
