FINANCIAL AID ADVISOR

POSITION: We are looking for an experienced financial aid advisor who is responsible for assisting students to correctly complete applications for Federal Title IV HEA program funds. The financial aid advisor must also accurately maintain paper files and computer records required by state, federal, and accreditation standards and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing of Title IV Federal Pell Grants
  • Provides processes and services needed to assist each student in making application for all forms of student financial assistance (Title IV Federal Pell Grants and Veterans Administration GI Bill funds)
  • Performs data entry and file maintenance in the Smart Software, Financial Aid Third Party Software, and NSLDS borrower data management systems. ·
  • Performs need analysis and financial aid packaging.
  • Performs verification and correction of financial aid application data.
  • Performs payment plans for cash pay students.
  • Performs IPEDS reporting.
  • Maintains student files, assembles new student information and application packages and other documentation requirements.
  • Reviews all student files to ensure accurate funding and full compliance with all applicable statutes, rules and regulations.
  • Ensures proper and timely disbursements of federal, state and agency funds to students.
  • Monitors and properly maintains all student account payments and status in accordance with all governmental regulations and the requirements, standards and practices of the School.
  • Performs return to Title IV calculations, credit balances determinations, grant recalculations and ineligible disbursements procedures. Ensures the accurate calculation and timely processing of all refunds.
  • Performs institutional refund calculations in addition to R2T4 calculations and submits to the operations department requests for return of Title IV funds and/or student refunds to be made.
  • Checks student Satisfactory Academic Progress status and executes SAP evaluations on students.
  • Works closely with the operations office prior to disbursement to ensure accuracy of student accounts; adjusts financial aid for schedule changes and leaves of absence in accordance with office policy and to ensure proper disbursement of funds.
  • Works well with the school owner, school consultants, Financial Aid Third Party Service, operations staff, and the educational department.
  • Greets and works with students on a scheduled and walk-in basis. Good customer service skills are required.
  • Attends any required conferences at the direction of the school owner.
  • Studies and masters all required training materials.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, accrediting and federal financial aid related regulations.
  • Promptly and accurately reports any suspected instances of non-compliance to immediate supervisor (s) and/or higher levels within the organization, as is needed to address and resolve any areas of non-compliance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties.
  • Knowledge of reporting, record keeping, guidelines, laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to Federal Title IV financial aid programs and Veterans Administration GI Bill.
  • Fundamentals of Title IV Training certification.
  • Prior Title IV Financial Aid experience.

25-30 hours per week Tuesday - Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
