Job title: Human Resources Coordinator
Reports to: Vice President of Administrative Services
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate Degree with significant credits towards Bachelor’s Degree. 2 years minimum experience in training, teaching, and/or recruiting.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field 3 years minimum experience in Human Resources SHRM-CP
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Experience in managing Section 125, 403(b), health insurance and voluntary benefit plans Experience with workers compensation benefits, claims and audits Experience with policy implementation and revision Experience with KPERS Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Ability to analyze situations and make decisions within policy and legal framework Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Ability to prioritize, manage multiple problems concurrently and meet required deadlines Self-starter, motivated, energetic and will take initiative to achieve positive change Proficiency in computer operations systems, database software including Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Position Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable employment and payroll laws, policies and procedures. Providing support and assistance to administration in employment related issues. Maintaining personnel files, implementing and addressing insurance and benefit issues, and providing support to all employees.
Essential Job Functions: Create and maintain employee files, performance reviews, state and federal required employee documentation. Create, update and maintain job descriptions, advertise for open positions, save and track applications. Schedule and coordinate interviews with search committee and applicants, send thank you letters to all applicants, verify references, make offer to candidate. Process new hires, ensure all hire forms are filled out correctly, process background check and drug screen, facilitate new employee orientation and trainings. Order business cards, name tags, desk plates. Coordinate and implement health, dental, vision and supplemental benefits, schedule open enrollment, process employee changes, new hires and terminations. Ensure compliance of Section 125 plan and universal availability and education of 403(b) plan. Process enrollments and terminations of 403(b) plan and KPERS participants. Provide separation paperwork for retirement benefits and submit COBRA requests. Prepare at-will employee compensation letters and faculty/adjunct contracts. Request, track and maintain information on employees/faculty completing degrees, update HLC spreadsheet, request reimbursements, gather official transcripts. Provide information advice to administrators/supervisors/search committees related to Human Resources issues, EEOC laws for interviews, hiring and terminations. Approve and track Family Medical Leave requests, ensure employees fill out paperwork and receive their rights and responsibilities documents. Research, apply if needed, for business licenses for out of state adjuncts, process employment related tax and labor reports and payments. Complete surveys including but not limited to HLC, IPEDS, KBOR. Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance. Ensure compliance of federal and state employment laws, assist with investigations, maintain records. Update and maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Create, update and provide trainings including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, bloodborne pathogens. Create, update and maintain college policies and procedures, assist administrators with polices as needed. Work closely with faculty, administration and staff; attend meetings. Serve on various committees including but not limited to benefits, wellness, negotiations, accreditations, and safety. Process worker compensation claims, complete annual audit. Process unemployment claims. Support the vision, mission and policies of Salina Area Technical College. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements: Occasional physical exertion to manually lift, carry, push, pull or move objects or materials less than 50-100 pounds. Generally, involves 80% sitting, 10% walking and 10% standing, however some days may require much more walking and standing. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching Requires acute hearing and speaking skills. Requires fine dexterity to type, enter data and provide written communications. Use of standard office equipment including computers and general office equipment. Work is performed in a busy and noisy environment. Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Requires traveling to various sites. May require evening and weekend work.

Classification: Professional Technical Full-time or part-time: Full-time Schedule: Typically, M-TH 7:30 am – 4:30 pm and F 7:30am – 3:30pm
Wages Benefits Eligible: KPERS Eligible: Participation in college flexible benefit program which includes partially paid single and family health and dental coverage, 403(b) investment plan, reimbursement accounts, vacation and sick leave. Kansas Public Employees Retirement System is a mandatory 6% contribution.
