As a Principal Data Scientist in the Optum Infusion organization, you will work in a fast-paced environment to direct and support the activities of a diverse group of professionals defining and implementing the ambitious data and delivery strategy across our suite of applications. This role will join our Optum Infusion team, where we are on a mission to increase data utilization within Optum Infusion and between OptumRx to enable innovative products.

You will be expected to collaborate closely with various infusion teams and reporting product owners in an agile environment. You will work closely with multiple IT and product teams to ensure that investments are aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. You will act as a subject matter expert, providing advanced knowledge and guidance on infusion data ingestion.

You will be expected to work across the organization to deliver best-in-class capabilities that ensure our internal business partners are leveraging the use of all our analytical data properties.

A key part of the responsibility is to design and build a centralized data repository that enables the delivery of products to drive engagement and revolutionize the infusion business. Data scientists play a critical role in building the data warehouse and harmonizing relational data tables in a cloud environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• 
  Partner with IT and product leaders and own the Optum Infusion data ingestion process
• 
  Understand the architecture proposed by the solution teams and ensure the product team is aligned to that overall solution architecture
• 
  Provide subject matter expertise and explain the architecture to product owners, designers, scrum teams and architects to ensure requirements are understood and customer value is delivered
• 
  Guide and monitor the implementation process that involves infusion data ingestion to the centralized repository
• 
  Build a scalable solution with the product leaders
• 
  Identify dependencies and tradeoffs against risks
• 
  Identify optimization opportunities for current and future infusion data sources in Azure

Required Qualifications:

• 
  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 
  5+ years of experience in data integrity, data cleansing, and harmonization in a healthcare or regulated business setting
• 
  5+ years of SQL, Python, and/or R experience
• 
  3+ years of working with Azure or other cloud platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

• 
  Experience with BI/SQL reporting concepts
• 
  Experience with pharmacy dispenses and reimbursement data
• 
  In-depth clinical data experience
• 
  Solid critical thinker who makes balanced, insightful decisions using solution-based thinking to solve problems and ask probing questions
• 
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization
• 
  Demonstrated collaborative style, with ability to lead and influence diverse team
